Product Description |
| The 2CD The Essential Michael Jackson takes you on a journey from budding star, to iconic legend and allows you to immerse yourself in the musical and emotional development of each track defining the story of a global superstar. Michael Jackson needs no introduction, as part of the Jackson 5 he helped make up a remarkable musical family and one of the biggest pop phenomenons of the early 70s. The Jacksons' infectious brand of funky soul and now iconic stage presence reached out globally and made them and Michael international stars. As the success of the band grew, Michael branched out with his own solo career first launching with "Got to be There" and then "Rockin' Robin". The momentum started to grow with the release of more successful singles and, as the hype surrounding the Jackson 5 slowed down towards the late 70s, Michael continued to develop and grow as an artist. With the release of Off the Wall, an immaculately crafted set of funky disco-pop, smooth soul, and lush, sentimental pop ballads, Michael cemented his place as a global star. The 1980s were a career-defining period with his instantly identifiable voice, eye-popping dance moves, stunning musical versatility, and loads of sheer star power Michael Jackson was unstoppable. The 1982 album Thriller became the biggest selling album of all time and combined his musical genius with an exceptional and ahead of its time music video epic. Bad (1987) was released with enormous public anticipation and spawned another succession of hit singles with "The Way You Make Me Feel" and "Man in the Mirror." |

One of the best Michael Jackson CDs to date
|
| Review Date: March 6, 2010 |
| Reviewer: Jason Weber, |
| This is the first CD to cover Michael Jackson's entire career from his early Jackson 5 years in the 70s to his later years in the mid 90s. Almost all his number one hits are here and famous songs such as ABC, Bad, Thriller, Beat It, and Billie Jean, and this CD offers a really great variety of songs. Although there were a few songs that I didn't care for on this CD, as well as songs that I wish they would have included like Earth Song or Never Say Goodbye, it overall has quality soundtracks and is remastered in high sound quality. A minor thing is that they cut some of the songs short from the originals, most likely do to the time limit on the CDs, but the meat and potatoes of all the songs are on this CD and aren't missing much of the original. If you are a die hard Jackson fan, you may want to buy each of his individual albulms, as this CD is missing a few essential songs from certain albulms, as well as cuts a few good songs shorter than the original counterpart, but if you are just a casual Jackson or pop fan, and are looking for a CD with almost all his top hits from the Jackson 5 years to the 90s, this CD is a must buy, and is really the only CD that spans his entire career. It is a lot cheaper than buying each albulm and is worth lossing a few songs over if you don't have the money to buy individual albulms or don't want to go through the trouble of figuring out which CDs to buy to get all his top songs. I think next Sony needs to release a DVD and Blu-ray of all Jackson's music videos, that would be the ultimate tribute to the late King of Pop. |

Michael Jackson The Essentials CD
If you are looking for a complete set of Michael Jacksons greatest music this is it right here. The Essentials will give you everything you want and more. This is a two disc CD and contains everything from his days in the Jackson Five to when he went solo himself. The one thing that has always been great about Michael Jackson is he has been able to perform on a CD with almost no guest features. This is not counting his days in the Jackson Five. Most of Michaels CD's I have enjoyed the Whole thing but to me this CD comes close to where you can capture all of Jacksons great songs without having to buy any of his other CD's. The thing about this two disc CD is its more expensive as it costs 13.99 but with over 35 songs on two CD's you can't go wrong. Whether you like the younger days of his ABC song or going into the classic of thriller or my personal favorite Black or White you will find something to please you. I like Michael Jackson and always will as an artist it saddens me that things in his personal life sometimes held him back from being even better than he already was but I definitely say pick this CD up it is a must have for any music fan or any Michael Jackson fan as well. |
Perfect CD Set for the MJ "Newbie"

| "The Essential Michael Jackson" is a phenomenal 2-CD set. I didn't become interested in Michael Jackson and his music until after his recent tragic death, I'm sorry to say. I was looking for some sort of "all-encompassing" CD that would serve as a good intro to his work when I stumbled upon this great CD set. It turned out to be the perfect fit for me. Both the sound quality and the selection of tracks are truly excellent. It appears MJ's full career is well-represented here, with perhaps just a few notable omissions like "I'll Be There." This CD set turned me into an instant MJ fan -- I went out and bought several more MJ and Jackson 5 CDs almost immediately and now enjoy listening to one or more daily. The dude REALLY knew his stuff, and I now seriously regret that I didn't "enlist in the MJ army" much sooner than I did. Anyway, I highly recommend this CD set to all MJ "newbies" like me and even to seasoned MJ fans who are looking to add to their collections. You definitely won't be disappointed with this CD purchase. (Michael, you were a true gift from God. Rest peacefully, my friend.) |
