Michael Jackson Film Earns $2.2 Million On Opening Night

Late night screenings of Michael Jackson’s This Is It movie has grossed over $2.2 million at the North America box office.

This Is It opened in 99 countries across the planet on Tuesday night and expanded its release Wednesday. Sony has already determined that Wednesday’s box office results are “explosive” and that matinee numbers have doubled those from Tuesday night.

The movie has been created using some of the 120 hours of rehearsal film footage from what would have been a series of comeback concerts to be staged in London.
