The 20-year-old model brought proceedings against Express Newspapers over a front page story in The Daily Star in September 2008.

The report falsely accused the daughter of Bob Geldof and the late Paula Yates of accepting cash for sexual services.

After Geldof went to the Press Complaints Commission (PCC), the tabloid agreed the headline used implied she “provided services of a personal sexual nature for the payment of a fee”.

However the paper did not retract what was published and printed an apology on page two, not on the front page.

Geldof felt this was “unacceptable, as it was not, in her view, adequately prominent”, her solicitor Jonathan Coad said.

At London’s High Court, Express Newspapers was asked to withdraw the allegations unreservedly and to apologise publicly to Geldof for the distress caused to her by the story.

“The defendant accepts that there is no truth in the allegation made in the article, and apologises to the claimant for any distress caused by the publication,” the newspaper’s solicitor Zoe Norden told the court.

In addition to the libel damages, the publication agreed to pay her legal costs.

Marilyn Manson and Evan Rachel Wood Engaged

Rumors have been spreading for days about the engagement being on, then off, then on again.

Reps for both Manson and Wood have remained silent on the subject.

Manson, 41, began dating Wood, 22, in 2006 but the couple broke up in 2008. They briefly reconciled, then split again before getting back together.

Last year, Manson revealed that he was so devastated over his breakup with Wood that he obsessed about the actress and called her incessantly. After they worked things out, Manson was quoted by the Herald Sun as saying that Wood has helped him be a better person.

Tiger Woods Featured On Vanity Fair Cover

A bare-chested picture of scandal-hit Tiger Woods showing off his bulging biceps has been exposed to the world.

The latest issue of the US magazine Vanity Fair, featuring the famous golfer on its cover, will hit newsagents’ shelves this week.

The revealing image was taken by photographer Annie Leibovitz and the publication promises a full portfolio inside.

The 33-year-old multi-millionaire sportsman has recently been dropped by a number of high-profile sponsors following revelations over a string of extra-martial affairs.

Vanity Fair describes the pictures of Woods – taken before the scandal that erupted after he was hurt in an early morning car crash – as raw and unguarded.

The article accompanying the pictures is definitely post-scandal.

It is called “Tiger in the rough” and starts out, “When Tiger Woods finally fell from his pedestal…”

Leibovitz, who reportedly took the pictures four years ago, said: “Tiger is an intensely competitive athlete – and quite serious about his sport.

“I wanted to reveal that in these photos. And to show his incredible focus and dedication.”

The photographs emerge at a time when the golfer himself has remained hidden.

Woods has not been seen since the crash outside his home in November.

The collision sparked the allegations that Woods and his wife Elin Nordegren had serious marital problems.

He later announced he was giving up golf for the foreseeable future.

US telecommunications company AT&T is the latest firm to end its association with the golfer following the claims of numerous infidelities.

Accenture and Gillette have also dropped support for Woods.

The latest Vanity Fair magazine will go on sale in New York and Los Angeles on Wednesday and the rest of the US on January 12.

Another Day, which has been posted on YouTube, is a collaboration with American rocker Lenny Kravitz.

The clip runs at 1 minute 27 seconds and features Jackson singing a verse which appears to be from a Kravitz song called Storm, according to the celebrity gossip website TMZ.

Kravitz gave an interview shortly after Jackson’s death in which he mentioned working with the star on a song that had not yet been released.

Brittany Murphy Dead After Cardiac Arrest

According to the Los Angeles City Fire Department, a 911 call was made at 8:00 AM from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack

Sources have stated that Brittany Murphy’s mother discovered her unconscious in the shower. After paramedics arrived at the scene they quickly determined Murphy was in full cardiac arrest and administered CPR. They continued CPR in route to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center several miles away. However, Murphy did not respond and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

Brittany Murphy starred in such films as “Clueless,” “8 Mile,” and “Don’t Say a Word.”

An investigation is due to be launched by the LA County Coroner’s office after they pick up her body later today.

Rage Against The Machine - UK Christmas Number 1

The US rap metal band topped the chart with their 1992 hit Killing In The Name after an internet campaign to keep Simon Cowell’s act off the festive top spot.

McElderry, 18, took his defeat graciously, saying: “This time last year I never thought for one minute that I’d win The X Factor, never mind have a debut single out.

“I’m just delighted to be in the charts.”

He added: “It’s been such an incredible couple of months, and I got the best Christmas gift I could ever have asked for in winning The X Factor.”

Killing In The Name sold more than 500,000 copies in the past week, while McElderry’s The Climb chalked up sales of 450,000.

Pop mogul Cowell offered his congratulations to the couple behind the internet campaign, Jon and Tracy Morter.

He said: “I am gutted for Joe because a number one single meant a lot to him, but I have to congratulate Jon and Tracy. They turned this into a very exciting race for the Christmas number one.

“I am proud of Joe – he worked really hard this week, but he has a great year ahead of him.”

Martin Talbot from the Official Charts Company said: “Congratulations to Rage Against The Machine on their number one. Overhauling any X Factor winner in the race for the Christmas number one is no mean achievement.
