George Michael pleaded guilty in a London court on Tuesday to driving under the influence of cannabis when he crashed his car into a shop last month, and could face jail.

The 47-year-old, whose real name is Georgios Panayiotou, entered his plea at Highbury Magistrates Court in north London.

Michael was arrested on 4 July in Hampstead, north London, after he crashed his car into a branch of photographic shop Snappy Snaps.

District Judge Robin McPhee gave the singer an interim six-month driving ban, and said he would be sentenced on September 14 after the court considers his case. He will remain on bail until that date.

“I make it clear the options in respect of sentence remain open, including the power to imprison,” the judge told him.

“It is a serious matter. Your driving was extremely poor and there was an accident. There is also a conviction from three years ago.”

Police and security had to hold back the fierce press scrum that greeted the singer as he arrived at court.

A shocking beginning to the Miss Universe 2010 has made fans furious as the very beautiful, very intelligent Miss USA 2010 Rima Fakih did not make the final 15.

That’s right, the woman who has proudly held the Miss USA crown for the past few months received the shaft in this year’s coveted competition with an elimination after the first round of 15 were announced.

Many believed that Rima Fakih had the potential to become this year’s winner but we’ve just watched the live footage and we can assure you she didn’t make the top 15.

Do you think Miss USA Rima Fakih deserved to be eliminated so early? Do you think she had what it takes to wear the Miss Universe crown?

I have to say, I’m shocked. I really thought she’d make the final 5 at least but an early elimination of Miss USA has already made the 2010 Miss Universe pageant one to remember.

Fantasia-Barrino-Overdose
Fantasia Barrino says Overdose Was No Accident, two weeks after being hospitalized for overdosing on aspirin and a sleep aid.

“I didn’t have any fight in me. I didn’t care about anything. I just wanted out,” the “American Idol” winner, 26, tells VH1 in a new “Behind the Music” interview, airing 9 p.m. ET/PT Tuesday, the same day her new album, “Back to Me,” is released. “At that moment, I wanted out. I wanted it to be over with — all of it, all of that [expletive].”

She continues: “I just sat in the closet and looked at the mirror and took all the pills in the bottle. I wanted to go to sleep and just be at peace. I knew exactly what I was doing. You can’t accidentally take a whole bottle of pills.”

Barrino’s manager, Brian Dickens, recalls finding her lying on the floor in her room. “Her emotions were extremely low,” he says. “She’d been crying all day. Fantasia was just numb. Fantasia texted me, saying ‘I love you.’ I wrote back, ‘I love you more.’ Then it hit me.”

“I wrote, ‘You better not do anything or think about doing anything stupid.’ And I left it at that. About 10 minutes later, Fantasia texted me back, and she said, ‘Already did.’ I went into Fantasia’s room and saw her on the floor, and my heart just dropped.”

What made the successful singer, who’s preparing to release her third album, want to end her life? “I was tired of people doing me wrong, constantly, over and over again, dealing with my family — my father, dealing with men and their [expletive] — I was tired,” she says. “My head was hurting me. I was over it.”
